Eulogies Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight after the tragic deaths of celebrated film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt able to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, adding that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began passing more hours together I knew this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "any day without joy".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "To say that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the protagonist.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge agreed to prevent the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A court order put a restriction on the files to limit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" associated with the probe.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of foul play, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
